Reading guide: start with applicability and required evidence, then read expectations together with their limitations. Understand C, NC, NT and NA outcomes · Prepare a dossier
Expectations and evidence
- Required inputs (protocol identifiers)
- http, content, intent
- When it applies
- Existing, removed and nonexistent routes in scope.
- How to check
- Test an existing page, a removed URL and a non-existent URL; compare status and content.
- Expectation
- Status and content match the three declared cases; tested error pages do not return 200.
- Evidence to retain
- Consistent 4xx/5xx responses and an error template that does not return 200 by default.
- Non-applicability
- Scope contains no HTTP routing, with a justification.
- Limitations
- The final soft-404 classification remains a search-engine decision.
- Outcome clarification
- C requires all expectations across the declared scope. NC requires evidenced contradiction; otherwise NT. NA requires evidence of non-applicability.
- Reference scope
- Technical reference; the TSEP acceptance rule remains an editorial proposal.
